speaking of moms...
I received this email from my mother today. No matter how bad I am at staying in touch, she always forgives me.
Hi Sedrick,
How are you my son??? I was looking at a picture of the two of us – you were less than 3 and I was a baby myself. Where are you?? Everything is well here. Gerald was redeployed on Friday night, not sure exactly what time. He and I spent some time together...

Yo Mama....
Got a funny email from a great German friend:
hey sed, hope you’re enjoying berlin. got one question… do you use the expression “your momma” or “your mother” or something in the US? or does is necessarily have to be a your momma joke? i mean is your momma alone enough like “you’re so stupid man” answer is then “your momma”?! hope...

Berlin
Never order travel tickets in Amsterdam while under the influence. I almost ended up in Brussels instead of Berlin. In spite of myself, I managed to make it here just in time for the warmest welcome by randomberlinchick ! She treated me to a great brunch. Later we met up for drinks with her boo and her friend and her friend’s boo. Perhaps I should get a boo as well.
btw- i’m...

Octavia Butler on flying
jonubian:
I’m learning to fly, to levitate myself. No one is teaching me. I’m just learning on my own, little by little, dream lesson by dream lesson. Not a very subtle image, but a persistent one. I’ve had many lessons, and I’m better at flying than I used to be. I trust my ability more now, but I’m still afraid. I can’t quite control my directions yet. - Parable of the Sower.

my favorite photographers are...
(in no particular order)
Roy DeCarava
Kenro Izu
Renee Cox
Irving Penn
Ricardo Rangel
Seydou Keita
Gordon Parks
Most people assume it is just the latter. If I had to choose one, it would be DeCarava.

From the file, "Photos I just can't capture":
Large British communion party- kids with cake face- moms with disco dresses, slamming pints back- Robyn on the speaker- the entire clique sing the words to Show Me Love.
Song change: Lionel Richie- All Night Long.

Perhaps
I am a little lazy.
Maybe too comfortable. Besides that, it’s a frightening thought- that my photos will reveal too much. As rare as it is for my face to actually be recorded- I believe the collection of shadows will actually reveal a more honest portrait of the man hiding behind the mirror and glass. Are the angles timid? Is the perspective fleeting? Do the captures lack commitment? Is...

the small things
An email from an e-friend. Totally lit my day, as usual.
Having such a solitary nature, I depend on people to “get me”.
Nothing has been more of a surprise than the subtle utility of the web.
Knowing that I can spit indiscriminate randomness just to relieve the pressure.
And in the end, I’m entrusted with mutual adventitious jewels.

Desperate for Internet Dribble
Back in Micky D’s-
The Muzak in Europe is great. Everything we would label as great alternative music seems to have regular burn in fast food joints, markets and even elevators. This makes it much easier to hurry up and wait- especially in London aka “the land of 10,000 queues”.

Lazy Sunday Dribble
McDonalds (ugh) in NW London after about a week (mostly) off the grid. I have about an hour. Will I get work done or waste my time on Tumblr whilst waiting for a friend to sign on to Skype? Decisions….
