scuffalong replied to your post: insomniac dribble (black hair) There is an aggressive policing around this issue that is really offputting. Natural hair is not a litmus test for authenticity, self-love or general together-ness. Thanks for your honesty, Sed. I agree. There are just too many other and more important factors that should considered by each individual to get to a place of...

daniellescruggs replied to your post: insomniac dribble (black hair) I appreciate you and your response. I don’t think you were out of line at all. It’s honest and I’m glad you went in-depth and didn’t give cookie cutter one-note responses. Will they publish this or no? No- we talked about it and judging from the response, I felt like I was a party pooper.  My friend said she still wanted to...

missroxyroxanne replied to your post: insomniac dribble (black hair) I don’t get what was supposed to be so offensive about what you said. I liked your answers. (^_^) Thank you. I think that my opinion about the bigger picture was mistaken as a personal attack.  And sometimes when we begin personal projects we want a lot of support from those we care about the most. Critique doesn’t always...

insomniac dribble (black hair)
A old friend recently began a natural hair blog for black women.  Our relationship began with her as a mentee and later employee in a very rigorous activism network.  We have both grown accustomed to a very tough-love, high expectation approach to our relationship over the years as I have watched her grow into a very successful and confident woman over the years.  She manages the blog with her...

breegant asked: As often as I follow people back, I never really go through pages of peoples blogs (I lazily judge by the first page :-/). But yours is really great! You have a great balance between personal ramblings, your work and your travels: I obviously failed attempting the same thing (halflesbian is my personal page, breegant is my main page and showcases most of my work). Anyways, thanks for following and...

New-New Website: Welcome and See you Later
first blog post Today I’m in a hurry, but in the spirit of not returning to a crazy long to-do list, I wanted to publish this new website before I left for a short journey into the countryside of Senegal, West Africa. I’m at the end of a fantastic year of travel. Before I return to the U.S. in a few weeks, I’m joining my good friend, Racine as he visits his families village...

lebo-gang replied to your post: insomniac dribble lol!! I don’t want to sound silly but whats a tip drill? lol I’ve heard of a song with those 2 words but never really knew what it meant. You know what’s crazy? I thought I knew what it was until I actually just  looked it up on Urbandictionary.com.  I was slightly off. But yeah, you can find it on that site. Along with googling the Nelly...

ahnka asked: i'd been going through the gallery of photos you have for sale. so many are great, and at first i thought i'd just choose a bunch. but one stood out - your photograph of the orange tree has a quiet beauty about it and i know exactly where i want to have it in my home. also - it was nice to see a bunch of your photos in one shot like that. there's a cohesiveness about them, but i...

It's been 5 days since I've eaten a mango
My light is starting to get dim, chaos is ripping apart the thin layers of cosmic fabric that is my sanity. The end is nigh…… Wait, I think I hear the mango man coming down the street with his mango cart. I need exact change, because he never has change.

aphoticoccurrences replied to your post: insomniac dribble is this the same doc q-tip and shaheed are refusing to support? yeah. And I can tell why. The doc starts off with beef and sacrifices information and more valuable interviews with unnecessary static in my opinion. But Michael Rappaport is an asshole before the movie, I thought everyone agreed.  He was great in Bamboozled though.

Watched the Tribe Called Quest documntary last night. (sidenote: fully plan on supporting it in a theatre with friends as soon as I get back) I think the documentary started out strong and just teetered to an acceptable ending. But what was most exciting throughout the movie was the musical nostalgia.  I cant wait to watch this with a group of friends. i’ve already heard about theaters of...

Real talk, any critiques or even questions would be appreciated. If you’d rather, you can inbox me or email: click@sedmiles.com.  Thank you.
